Flow: the Movie, about Water and the World

 got the movie, “Flow,”  from the Library. It is an excellent movie about water and the fight across the world to provide clean water to people, given corporate interests to privatize and sell clean water and problems as a result of environmental changes.  It also mentions what people and organizations are doing to save the world’s water supply and those working to bring clean water to people across the world. One central question: Who owns the world’s water?
Additionally, the importance of water is discusses: we can’t live without it! 

I highly recommend it. We all need to make conscious decisions.

Alicia Silverstone, actor and vegan, has written, The Kind Life.  The book discusses her views on being a vegan and the larger societal context of the way we treat animals,  and how our food choices impact the environment and our health.

As someone who is edging closer to being a vegetarian, I found the book to be great.  But, the the book  is useful for anyone looking to add more vegetarian/vegan meals to their diet, by showing simple steps to take to achieve this. And for those wishing to go vegan, the book will serve you well. Check-out the recipes and the suggestions for substitutions in recipes.

Additionally, the author discusses her views on being a vegan and the impact on our lives and the world. This is good because whether or not you share this point of view, we all need to make conscious decisions.  The book also  profiles health pioneers who espouse similar viewpoints and other’s living “the kind life,” such as a body builder who is a vegan.

For me, I found the book really helpful because it introduced me to a host of different foods that I knew little about, as well as recipes to incorporate these foods and foods that I currently eat.

So, whether you are looking to go vegan or just to add some more vegetarian meals to your diet, whether you agree or disagree with the views expressed in the book, or just want to make conscious decisions, the Kind Life is a realy good book to check-out.
